Myths & Facts About Toefl Speaking

  "Speaking" on TOEFL is the third section & it requires a lot of
sponteinity, presence of mind & mental agility to deliver the required
speech with ease, correctness & conciseness.All this calls for a
focussed & planned practice on part of the student under the proper
guidance of the trainer.Here are a few myths & facts about spesking
on toefl.

1.MYTH: the student is required to speak accented English.

1.FACT: absolutely not.In fact the student is advised not to put up
any fake accent `coz imitating the natives will surely land you in
trouble as we are not habituated to American accent.Stick to proper &
correct pronunciation of words.

2.MYTH:Speaking is graded only on how fast you speak that is your flow
& fluency only & nothing else.

2.FACT:Students again have a misconception here.Speaking is graded on
a scale of 4 that is your content, organisation ,fluency & grammatical
correctness. What you speak, how you organise your points, the pace of
your speech& grammatically correct English ,everything matters not
just fluency.

3.MYTH: No need of prior practice as the topics you prepare are not
sure to come in the exam.

3. FACT: Prior practice is a must.True the topics you prepare are not
sure to come in the exam yet the efforts you put in will certainly pay
off. "PRACTICE MAKES THE MAN PERFECT" is absolutely applicable
here.All the points that you generate during practice will condition
your brain & puts you in a better frame of mind so much so that you
feel fully armed to attack any given toipc.

So guys come out of the myths & embrace the facts if you aspire to
come out with flying colours in TOEFL.
